Discussing Foreclosure with a Bankruptcy Attorney

By Christopher Lee July 13, 2012 | Posted in

foreclosureYou might think that your foreclosure and a bankruptcy attorney have very little in common.  However, a bankruptcy attorney might be able to advise you in going through the foreclosure process.  And, their advice isn’t just fluff.  It could actually save your home!  If you’re thinking about going through with the foreclosure process you can’t afford to not speak with a bankruptcy attorney.  Here’s why…

Bankruptcy Can Prevent Foreclosure

That’s right.  Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 can both prevent foreclosure!  If you’re struggling financially, then you’re definitely struggling to pay your mortgage every month.  You may even be months behind on your mortgage payment, and now the bank isn’t going to work with you for any longer.

You probably didn’t think that a bankruptcy attorney could hold the answer to your problems.  However, by filing for bankruptcy, you can stave off foreclosure.  And, not just for a few weeks.  You can prevent foreclosure for months by filing for bankruptcy.  When you file for bankruptcy, the court orders that all debt collectors cease for at least as long as your case is under trial.  The good news is that the judge’s automatic stay means you can’t be foreclosed on!

So, before you start talking with the bank about foreclosure, make sure you start talking with a bankruptcy attorney about this way of staying in your home!  We’d be happy to answer any questions you might have.  Here at Lee Law Firm, we help good people through bad times.  Get in touch with us today!

Testimonials

Everybody I have encountered and meet with at Lee Law Firm has been positive and encouraging. And that is exactly what I needed because nobody looks forward to going through bankruptcy. The staff was honest about my situation and put my mind at ease about the process, and for the first time in months I was able to relax and focus…

on getting out of my financial situation with hope of starting over. I would recommend Lee Law firm of friends and family because I feel like they have my best interest at heart.
