Dallas Billionaire To Bid On Dodgers In Bankruptcy

The current Los Angeles Dodgers owner, Frank McCourt officially put the team up for sale last month as financial pressures became too much for the team to handle. The Dodgers have suffered from public relations problems and attendance slowdowns for years, both resulting in drastic profit loss for the franchise. Dallas billionaire and sports team owner, Mark Cuban has plans to bid on the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team in bankruptcy.
The Winning Bid
Cuban, who previously attempted to secure the Rangers when they hit Texas bankruptcy court last year, says he hopes to put in a winning bid for the Dodgers as early as next week. It is estimated that the Los Angeles Dodgers could go for as much as $1 billion in the sale. As the bids for the Dodgers heat up, other big name celebrities step forward and report interest in bidding as well, giving Cuban a run for his money. It is reported that Larry King has expressed interest in possibly purchasing the Dodger, along with former Lakers star Magic Johnson. Johnson is joined by former Braves executive Stan Kasten in his bid, serving up the advantage of a joint venture with nearly $125 billion in assets. Only time will tell who, if any, of these celebrities takes home the winning bid for the Major League Baseball team.
