DebtWhether you’re in over your head in debt, or you have a clean slate and want to keep it that way, there are a few easy things you can do now to avoid racking up unmanageable credit debt!  If you’re serious about avoiding debt, and enjoying the freedom of not having excessive financial burdens, then keep reading!

3 Things You Can Do:

1.  Don’t carry a credit card.  While you should have a credit card just to build your credit score, don’t carry it if you can help it!  When you carry and use cash exclusively, you’re far less likely to overspend.  Credit cards can turn into credit debt quick!

2.  Create lists before shopping.  And stick to them!  Whether you’re shopping at the grocery or shopping for your family’s summer vacation, creating a list of necessary items beforehand will help prevent you from making impulse purchases.  This is a great way to practice avoiding debt.  Plus, you’ll feel better about yourself when you leave the store with only the items you need in your bags!

3.  Don’t have more than two credit cards.  Hopefully you won’t be using your credit card(s) very often.  But, be sure you limit yourself to having no more than two.  You don’t want to have too much credit available to your name.  Keeping your credit limit low is a great way to prevent credit debt from accumulating under your name!

Follow these three steps, and you’ll be well on your way to a life of avoiding debt!  You’ll find that these practices only get easier the more you incorporate them into your life!
