Credit Tips to Help

In order to avoid credit debt, try following these suggestions.  If following all of these is too much for you right now, just pick one or two, and commit to them!

1.  Don’t carry a credit card outside of the house.  It could be that you want/need a credit card to establish a good credit score.  If so, just use the card to pay bills from home.  Don’t let it be a crutch you rely on for shopping.

2.  Pay off your card every few days.  Even if you know that you’ll have the money at the end of the month, paying off your balance regularly throughout the billing cycle is a good habit.

3.  Keep the number of cards in your name to a minimum.  Be warned that canceling a credit card can have a negative effect on your credit score.  So, don’t feel like you have to officially cancel.  But, you may want to put the card away, and don’t even think about using it!
