Wolf Camera Files For Bankruptcy

Many eyes have been upon the Kodak photo and film company as they filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. Now, Dallas bankruptcy cases will be met by one of the leading camera companies in Dallas-Fort Worth, Wolf Camera.

History Repeating

Overseeing nine Dallas-Fort Worth locations, Ritz Camera & Image LLC is a 94 year old photography retailer. Selling everything from high tech photography gear and film, to basic consumer models, the stores around town have been losing profitability for years. Having already completed prior Chapter 11 cases in the past, Ritz Camera & Image LLC has not been able to compete with the shift to digital photography and big name retail store sales.

After failing to find a buyer from their recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, the parent company of Wolf Camera has asked the judge for permission to liquidate. Failing to obtain a bidder at their September 6th auction, the bankruptcy court has approved the liquidation of the company in a business Chapter 7 case. There is no word on when stores around the Dallas-Fort Worth area may begin closing.
