Once taking over headlines for giving birth to octuplets, Nadya Suleman has enjoyed her time in the spotlight. Despite receiving much criticism, Suleman has continued to stand by her decision to receive fertility treatments and became a mother to 8 babie back in 2009. Suleman has laid low for quite some time, but is back in the headlines again over accusations of poor living conditions for her children and her recent Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing.
Multiple Problems
Many would say that responsible choices and planning are not Suleman’s strong suit. Allegations of child protective services investigating her for substandard conditions for her children have been on the radar of legal officials for quite some time.
Nadya has also been found to be collecting around $4,000 a month in government assistance checks to help support the children. Despite getting paid for some controversial work, Suleman has now found further problems with her finances that she cannot resolve on her own.
Filing for bankruptcy earlier this week, Suleman listed close to $1 million in debts while claiming only $50,000 worth of assets. Suleman reported that she has entered bankruptcy to “obtain a fresh start” for the children.
