Our service members have been no stranger to the mortgage crisis. In fact, many active duty members have had to face foreclosures and evictions while away serving in our armed forced. While there are some additional protections for service members and veterans, these protections are not always enough to stave off mortgage trouble. However, the outlook isn’t always dim. In an effort to give back to our nation’s duty members, one mortgage company announced their plan to donate a home to a veteran in need.
Giving Back
GMAC Mortgage, LLC. has announced their intentions to donate a home to one Army veteran who was wounded in action. Working with Military Warriors Support Foundation, GMAC Mortgage has been working diligently to match First Sergeant Peter Lara with a home. The mortgage company went further to provide replacements of many of the home’s surfaces and added amenities, such as new appliances and a backyard garden. Citing their support of our nation’s service members, GMAC said in a statement, “With guidance from the Military Warriors Support Foundation, we’re honored to provide First Sergeant Lara with a home.”
